2012 AAG Calgary Chapter Scholarship Recipient
The 2012 AAG Calgary Chapter Student Scholarship was presented to Nicole Van den Brink, a University of Lethbridge student, studying therapeutic rehabilitation specializing in work in Gerontology.
“When I received notice in May of 2012 that I was the winner of the Calgary Chapter AAG’s $1000.00 student scholarship I was beyond thrilled. I had just finished my first semester of Therapeutic Recreation-Gerontology at the Lethbridge College and had dedicated my first entire year of school to my studies. I had just been hired on at an Independent Living seniors home, but seeing I had focused solely on my school work for my first year of college the scholarship would definitely be a huge help in funding my schooling.
This April I will graduate from the Lethbridge College with a diploma in Therapeutic Recreation and I am very excited to begin my career in the line of Gerontology. Therapeutic Recreation has become my passion and my schooling together with my many hours of experience will be a solid foundation for me to build my career upon.
I would like to thank the Calgary Chapter of AAG for supporting me through my educational journey. The award I have received has given me a huge financial boost for my education!”
